FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS
Insect Control
Q: Is It Safe?
A: The chemicals used in our systems and ALL insect misting systems have been used for decades and are safe for use around humans and animals. The chemical is derived from crushed flowers and comes in an all natural and synthetic form.
Q: Does It Treat More Than Just Mosquitoes?
A: YES! Including gnats, no see-ums, fleas, ticks and cockroaches, there are more than 200 additional insects the system is capable of controlling around your property.
A: Unlike propane and CO2 systems that are designed to ATTRACT insects to your yard, kill them and therefore reduce the overall population, misting systems automatically activate 3-6 times a day for a minute each. The result is a fine mist that kills anything within range during the activation, as well as puts an invisible barrier around the area(s) misted - keeping the insects out of your yard.
A: Costs can vary depending on how many nozzles are on your system, how often you run it and which concentrate/brand of chemical you are using with your system. On average, the cost is approximately $50/month.
Q: How Does It Work?
Q: How Much Does It Cost to Refill My Chemical Tank?
Q: Will It Kill My Plants, or Leave Residue on My Furniture?
A: EcoMist uses a misting pump with a much higher pressure and smaller nozzle than most competitor mosquito misters. The end result, is a mist that is about 7 times finer, which gets better coverage with less nozzles and evaporates more quickly. While other systems can leave residue on your tables and windows and kill your plants near the nozzle locations, EcoMist systems are guaranteed to leave your plants happy and healthy and will not leave a residue on anything - even within 6 inches of the nozzle location.
A: Although most mosquito misting systems in the business will provide you with adequate protection, EcoMist offers its customers a more superior product at a competative price. Here are some examples of what sets us apart.
The Tank: Most systems come with a 55 Gallon drum, which is bulky and unattractive. EcoMist houses all of its components in an attractive 50 gallon taupe colored plastic outdoor box. There are new "tankless" systems on the market, which are housed in similar containers to ours, but they are very expensive to purchase and even more expensive to refill with the chemicals.
The Pump: Nearly all mosquito misters run off of a pump that produces a mist pressure between 250 and 340psi. This creates a heavy and "wet" mist that cannot travel great distances and therefore requires more nozzles and can leave residue on windows, furniture, stain your home and kill your plants. EcoMist systems run off of 1,000psi pumps. This creates a very light mist that can travel (and rise) great distances. This enables the mist to do its job and then evaporate before it can wet anything and as such, it will not leave a residue on your windows, furniture, home, or kill your plants.
The Nozzles: Coupled with a 250psi pump, the nozzles on most other systems are quite large by comparison (.030"). Again, this creates a very heavy and "wet" mist. This means the nozzles require a spacing of about 10ft apart in order to cover as much space as possible before the mist hits the ground. If installed in the grass, or flower beds an additional riser (1/2" x 18") must be used every 10ft to get an effective result. Coupled with a 1,000 psi pump and various sized nozzles (.003" - .020"), EcoMist can create a much finer, light and "dry" mist. Since this mist is essentially lighter than air, the nozzles can be spaced every 15-20ft apart and require a much smaller riser (1/8" x 6") when mounted in the grass, or flower beds. EcoMist can cover twice as much area with half as many nozzles as most other mosquito misting systems and utilizing a much smaller component that is unoticable where installed.
Q: What Makes EcoMist Insect Misting Systems So Much Better Than The Others ?
